Kobe Bryant made a visit to the University of California-Santa Barbara where he answered questions for students in a psychology classroom. At one point, Bryant was asked about his only MVP award in 2008 and he used it as an opportunity to share a story about former teammate Kwame Brown. Brown, the No. 1 overall pick in 2001 by the Wizards’, was traded to the Lakers for Caron Butler in 2005 and played 2 ½ seasons in Los Angeles, where he was often booed at home games. His career fell well short of expectations. Bryant offered a glimpse into how a lack of confidence contributed to his early struggles in his career in a very funny story of Brown’s final game as a Laker. Here’s the video of the conversation.
After the long wait, football fans in Los Angeles have something to look forward too. Yesterday the LA City Council voted unanimously on the outlines of a $1.5-billion deal to develop a new downtown stadium. This stadium (projected to fit 72,000 people) would just about guarantee the city its first NFL team since the Rams in 1995. So which NFL team is most likely to move to the big lights in LA? Teams such as the St. Luis Rams, Buffalo Bills, Jacksonville Jaguars, and even the Minnesota Vikings have been thrown into the mix. But the team most likely to make the move would be the San Diego Chargers. The Chargers already have a large fan base in the South Los Angeles area so the change of scenery makes sense. Other teams mentioned were the 49ers and Raiders, but they both seem unlikely. An announcement could be made by the NFL as early as the end of the year.
